But I will show him what a man can do and what a
man endures.
“I told the boy I was a strange old man,” he said.
“Now is when I must prove it.”
The thousand times that he had proved it meant nothing. Now  he was proving it
again. Each time was a new time and he never thought about the past when he was doing
it. Ernest Hemingway -The Old Man and the Sea.

These lines from Hemingway hit me hard the first time I read it and has continued to engender strength in my thoughts. The old man is in a boat, alone, and has been drug out to sea by a large fish. He is a very old fisherman and has not caught a fish in many days. After hooking the catch of a lifetime, he simply refuses to quit. He cannot beat the fish so he holds him with his cord through exhaustion for several days. He is very old and firm in his convictions. In this line, he gives himself a brief lecture on what it means to endure. He had a sense of great urgency about giving all he had right now. This is the power of the human mind. If pushed in the right direction, it will endure. Here's a look at what one year can do. Enter the "Bar Brothers" from DC.

One year of excellence.

Every repetition, every ounce of pain that goes into a workout is success. It is unlike any job where good deeds go unnoticed or seniority trumps merit. Every little bit of work pays out exactly what you give. Not one bit more or less. Only have time for a few sit-ups instead of a full workout? Don't feel like it's a waste, their is no waste, you get paid in results for every single bit of it. The next couple hours are dedicated to making it happen. It's a core day that will probably turn into a full body bonanza. I have the whole day off and I'm ready to trade work for success. I will not be outworked today.

Did you remember to Feed the Wolf this morning? You are your biggest fan. Studies have shown that your first few interactions in the morning set the mood for your entire day. Take advantage of your power to look yourself in the mirror and have a decisive agreement about how you will proceed with excellence today.

I almost wished you luck but luck is not what we need. We need work and discipline. Get excited about yourself. Live excellently.

Bradley
